Talks on Tap: What You Should Know About the Seafood You Eat

Our next Talks on Tap event, where experts, nerds, and other people-in-the-know tell us about cool stuff while we sip beer, is on SUSTAINABLE SEAFOOD! Professor Steve Hendricks from Cuesta College will give a presentation entitled: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly! What you should know about the seafood you eat. All these events are free and family-friendly.

From Steve: I grew up locally and have been fishing in the ocean for 43 years (I’m not even 48 yet!). I attended Cuesta College, Humboldt State University (B.S. in fish biology), and Oregon State University (M.S. fisheries and wildlife). I am very concerned about the future health of our oceans and would love my daughter to be able to enjoy the ocean as I have. This presentation will cover the harvesting of seafood (+/- aspects of each method), the impacts of mariculture, a discussion of how to choose healthy seafood for the environment, and how to choose healthy seafood for You!
