On Tour! Gina Villalobos & Amee Chapman

Gina Villalobos and Amee Chapman are sharing the featured set on the Sept. 27 showcase. They are on their Back West tour, spending most of September playing venues up and down the West Coast.

Gina's songs draw comparisons to Bruce Springsteen, John Fogerty, and John Mellencamp. Acoustic Guitar Magazine called her music "indie rock, country and pop.” Mojo Magazine hailed it as "instantly addictive alt country rock songs sung in a great voice that's not only like-able but like someone you can believe.” Sample some at https://ginavillalobos.bandzoogle.com/music

Influenced by the likes of Lucinda Williams, Esther Phillips, and Jeff Tweedy, Amee Chapman's singing, songwriting and guitar playing reflect the images of the average and eccentric: lonesome highway phone booths, sea faring whiskey rebels, city wise angeled outlaws and suicidal tattooed cowboys. Amee has spent the years pedaling her musical wares in front of the audiences of Jolie Holland as well as Michelle Malone, Caroline Aiken, Sean Hayes, Nathan Moore and The White Buffalo. http://www.ameechapman.com/music/

Special guests include Michael Venia of Carbon City Lights, and more.

In Concert! Funny, Political Folkie Roy Zimmerman

What's so funny about ignorance, war, and greed? Lots! Roy Zimmerman’s original songs are a funny and forceful affirmation of Peace and Social Justice. Roy’s songs have been heard on HBO and Showtime, and his videos have garnered tens of millions of views. Joni Mitchell and Weird Al Yankovic have praised Roy Zimmerman's work.

"Zimmerman displays a lacerating wit and keen awareness of society's foibles that bring to mind a latter-day Tom Lehrer."
-- Los Angeles Times.

"Without a doubt, Roy Zimmerman is among the most important political commentators of the last few decades, and in the end, it's the music that unites and disarms. With music this good and humor this insightful, there is good reason to be optimistic."
-- No Depression Magazine.

Roy Zimmerman has recorded for Warner/Reprise Records. He's shared stages with Bill Maher, Ellen DeGeneres, Holly Near, Robin Williams, Arlo Guthrie, John Oliver, Kate Clinton and George Carlin, and tours the country constantly with his wife and co-writer Melanie Harby.

Show begins 6:30pm at 7Sisters Brewing, 181 Tank Farm Rd. (at Long St., just north of Higuera), San Luis Obispo, (805) 868-7133. All ages OK. $15 cover; buy your tickets in advance and we'll save seats for you!

Touring duo The Harmony People Headline

The Harmony People are back! Anjalisa Aitken and Gary Garrett met in 2013, when Gary was performing in California, and Anjalisa began harmonizing, full voice, from the audience. They sang some more, and very soon they and everyone within earshot realized that they would be making lots of music together. In honor of the way they met, they called their new duo Voice Recognition. They began to tour steadily in Hawaii and on the West Coast, from Southern California up to Seattle, giving house concerts and public shows of their original, uplifting, sophisticated music that have touched audiences. Their first CD, Summer, came out in August 2014, and in December 2014 they released Extended Play, a four-song EP with multilayered harmonies. In 2015, a stranger recognized them in Hawaii and said, “Hey, I know you, you’re the harmony people!” They drove away saying, “I think we just got renamed.” The Harmony People were born. www.theharmonypeople.com
